The Lazy Mom's St. Patty's Breakfast

Ok, so maybe it's not because I'm lazy.  Maybe just tired.  Either way, here's what Jackson had for breakfast this morning......

Lucky Charms and green milk!  How very festive of me, I know.  Especially when all the blogs and facebook messages talk about green pancakes and other fun breakfasts.  What can I say?  I'm not a morning person.  He was excited though.  "Mommy, this tastes just like regular milk!"  Must have been a St. Patrick's Day miracle.

Etsy Spotlight #2: St. Patrick's Day

When I posted my first Etsy Spotlight, I had intended that it would be a somewhat regular occurence.  I guess two months later isn't so terrible.....here's some of my favorites when I searched "St. Patrick's Day."

Possibly the cutest little shoes EVER ~ although it's hard to say because there are SO many other adorable ones over at Bonnie Bluebelle's shop!

I love this Irish Blessing Sign from The Country Workshop.  They have a huge variety of signs in their shop!

To add just the right touch of green to your St. Patrick's day outfit without looking like a leprechaun, check out this scarf from estilopronta ~ lots more beautiful color combos in their store! 

You could also add one of these cute felt flower bobby pins from WhataDo ~ check out all their fun headbands too!

I love the look of these - magnets made from vintage Irish stamps - what a cute gift idea, and the bonus is that they don't scream out, "ST PATRICKS DAY!!!" so they can be used year-round.  You can find them, along with over 200 other items, over at CrowBiz's etsy shop.

This Irish coin necklace from Dear Susan would be a great accessory for your favorite Irish lass, or anyone else for that matter! 

Finally, I love garland of any kind, and this St. Patty's Day garland is so fun but still classy looking!  The other garlands at Paper Polaroid are just as great, and when I clicked on their shop info, discovered they are from Lancaster, PA ~ we're practically neighbors!!

St. Patrick's Day Thumbprint Cards

Step #1:  Wrangle 16 month old.  Paint her thumb and press it on the card in groups of 4.  Wipe the rest of her off, which is now covered with paint.  Sigh.  Pray.  Wonder why in the world I didn't use ink instead of paint!!  Repeat #1 for as many cards as you plan to make.

Step #2:  Put the girl to bed.  Repeat #1 with almost 5 year old - not nearly as much wrangling required.

Step #3:  Have the boy draw stems on the groups of 4 thumbprints, making them look at least a little like 4-leaf clovers.

Step #4:  If your kiddo is older, they can write it themself, but I stamped a few words on the front and inside, and had J sign his name to all of them.  Here's how a few of them turned out....

And the ones for family look like this (if you are a family member who might be receiving one of these in the next week or so, please feign surprise and excitement if it is hand delivered)....

Step #5:  Wonder why I was so intent on using thumbs and not fingers?  I think fingers would have been easier.

I certainly could have made these cuter by adding embellishments or using scrapbook paper, but the goal for these were to make them simple and kid-friendly - I think they turned out cute!
